Sarah Prechtl: Pulling double duty
Sarah Prechtl (left) is taking on extra work so she doesn't have to cut back.
I am privileged enough to have a full-time job that I love and also get paid a decent salary for my age. But I also live in the most expensive part of the most expensive state of the US: the Bay Area.
Instead of giving up many of the luxuries I love or not being able to save money for a home I'd like to be able to buy in the near future, I have opted to go another route and take on extra work as a freelance graphic designer to make up for the extra money I'm putting toward the hike in gas and grocery prices.
So I might not be strapped for cash, but I am strapped for time...and my sanity!
